PREMIERE 0th ISSUE top
The premiere issue will not be apart of the subscription process. It will be a specially priced magazine on a limited run. Price will be coming in the near future. All subscriptions start with issue #1-4, regardless of when you sign up during the first year. More on this later.
The Premiere issue will have a full color cover with a B&W interior. I originally wanted a 128 page magazine, like other gaming magazines. Two things make this nearly impossible. First, is cost, second, those other magazines have 28 pages of ads and 28 pages of reviews. For now, I can't compete with that, but I do hope to make it around 64-pages. As of now the binding is unclear. I am hoping for perfect bound, but I think it may be staples.
To reserve a copy of the Premiere issue #0, please send an e-mail to us, with "Premiere" in the subject line, at: subscriptions@dragonroots.net. Once we finalize a price, we will send you a return e-mail asking for payment or directing you to our PayPal link.
PAPER SUBSCRIPTIONS (the only real way to go) top
First, we have not priced out the subscription yet. We want to make sure we charge enough to not go broke, but we don't want to over charge or no one will buy. We are not in this to make money. We simple are gamers, just like you, who want to give back to the community. Therefore, what follows is what we project the subscription may cost. However, we hope enough people are interested in the magazine subscription that we can lower the price. Regardless, full yearly subscriptions will not be available until October or the release of the Premiere issue, which ever is later.
Once we go into a bi-monthly print cycle during year two we will change the price, hopefully lower than the first year. The issues of the second years subscriptions will cover issue #5-10. Again, any time you buy a subscription during year two it will start with issue #5.
Once we go into a monthly magazine, year three, we will be starting subscriptions on the closest future magazine to the time of your order. If you are renewing your subscription, we will just keep your subscription going in order.
The reason that year one and two subscriptions will start with issues #1 and #5 is because as a small company on the rise, we need an easy way to keep track of things. We also need to work out a good system of tracking who, what, where, why and when. Also, this seems to make sense on the surface since no one will have these issues yet. Of course, special circumstances may arise where this system will not work (like someone ordering issue #1 to check us out and then getting a subscription. Although, this is mainly why the Premiere issue is not part of a subscription). In that case, we are open to change.
Single issues run $5 for the PDF, $10 for the paper and $13 for both. Single issues, PDF and paper, are available by contacting us at subscriptions@dragonroots.net.
The 4-issue first year subscriptions is currently projected at $40 for the US, $45 for Canada, and $60 for everywhere else, including all shipping and handling. The link below is for US subscriptions; for other locations, please inquire or send by PayPal to subscriptions@dragonroots.net. If the cost of producing the magazine goes down over the first year, or between now and the release of the first issue, I will be happy to place a credit on your account towards future issues or lower the price of the subscriptions. In order to lower the price, I need cheaper printing options.
Subscriptions beyond the first year will vary in price. We are hoping that the subscriptions over the first year will increase enough, to enable us to lower the price through volume printing. We are not in this for money, but it cost money to put together a magazine, more than I thought.
PDF SUBSCRIPTIONS top
We are greatly opposed to the new digital initiative that WOTC has started. We feel that a magazine should not be read on a computer. A magazine is something that you can feel and touch. It is something you can bring with you on a trip or to a store. It is something that you patiently wait for each month, a surprise from the daily grind and all the junk mail.
However, after doing some research on the many gaming boards, I have come to the conclusion that there are a lot of people who greatly prefer a PDF over a magazine, much in the same way that we prefer a magazine over a PDF. So, for those of you who wish to abandon tradition, we offer each magazine in a PDF format subscription projected for $20 for the first year.

OTHER PAYMENT METHODS top
We will mainly be using PayPal for purposes of payment. It is easy to set up and less costly than other services. I know that a select few of you really dislike PayPal. If you wish, you may send a check or money order to Dragon Roots c/o Christopher E. Rocco 311 Winifred Street East, St. Paul MN, . Subscriptions and orders done in this way will not be shipped until the money has cleared the bank, if in the form of a check.
